Workshop Synopsis:
Over the years, there have been many quality tools deployed to solve manufacturing problems. Many of the traditional approaches such as Brainstorming, DOE and SPC will be reviewed and more powerful tools will be substituted. Using the traditional approaches, many times the key factors necessary to solve the problem are ignored or discarded, leading to poorer solutions. This workshop will allow students to solve manufacturing problems more rapidly and prevent reoccurrence.
Workshop Content:
· Determining the project Y (area to improve) and establishing a clear Project Charter
· Establishing a good measurement system through Scatter Plots or Likert Scales
· Detailed process flow analysis to help zero in on the Key X (factor that causes the Project Y to be bad)
· Use a series of DOE tools that will efficiently and effectively narrow down where the Key X exists - such as Multi-Vari Charts, Concentration Charts, etc. (Taguchi and Fractional factorial techniques will be reviewed as to why they aren't effective)
· The use of Pre-Control in place of traditional SPC charts
