WORKSHOP SYNOPSIS:
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is an analytical tool used to examine potential failure modes of your product and process throughout the design, development, and production of your products and processes.  It can be one of the most effective tools that you can use to detect and correct problems before they occur.

Originally developed as a tool of the aerospace industry, it has unfortunately not attained wide acceptance and use despite its proven effectiveness.   The FMEA process may be utilized in a variety of applications, including:

This can be one of the most effective tools you can use to prevent problems before they occur. As an integral part of your design/development process, FMEA allows you to systematically evaluate potential problems as to their potential severity and impact, and identify and evaluate the effect of corrective actions. You can then redirect your design or production process accordingly.
